Masayo Ave, born in Tokyo in 1962, is the founder of MasayoAve creation and SXD.Lab-Sensory Experience Design Laboratory in Berlin. As one of Japan's most intriguing design luminaries, who settled in Europe for three decades, Masayo Ave embodies cultural and disciplinary synthesis and brings her expertise both in her sensory-based innovative design works and the field of design education.

Her illustrious design career began in the early 90s in Milan. Taking a sensory and imaginative approach to basic design principles, Masayo Ave's innovative approach, which spans various disciplines and cultural fields, brought her critical fame as a winner of multiple international design awards, including the ICFF 2000 Editors Award the A&W Mentor Award 2006.

Equally as illustrious as the praised carrier as a designer, Masayo Ave is one of the most prominent and influential designer-teachers today, developing the new design education program in sensory experience design pedagogy. She was appointed a professor in several Universities in Europe, including the University of Arts Berlin, and conducted many international masterclasses for university students and professionals. She has also been dedicating her career to developing new design education programs for children and youths that encompass a variety of sensory-based design experiences beyond academic frameworks.
